OBJECT OF THE GAME:
Score the most points to win the game.
Scoring opportunities are split into two distinct
rounds. The Regular Season Round and
the Playoff Round.
The Regular Season Round is
played during the NFL Regular season on Gridiron Games website.
During this round the rules and scoring are controlled
by Gridiron Games.
A winning strategy for the regular season is to try to pick winners from the bottom half of the league.
Eliminate the stinkers. Do not eliminate a team that you think can make the playoffs.
The worst thing you can do for you winning potential is to miss a week's pick. This make you a Sleeper... sad.
The Playoff Round which will be played via email and
spreadsheets.
During the regular season points accrue by picking a
winner each week.
During the post season the rules and scoring become much
more complicated.
The scoring scenarios and rules that apply to the Playoff Round are explained
in detail below.
Do not let these rules intimidate you, The game is
really quite simple and fun.
Cash Awards
Cash awards are determined by the number of paying players in the league.
2023-2024 season
$35 to play
$150 for best regular season score. AKA The Uprights
$800 for the overall winner of the Game. AKA The $-POT
Tie Breakers will apply.

Once the season has started in week 1 of the NFL season the boards will be locked.
You must be in our group and make a pick by the first game on Sunday of week one in order to play.
The board will be locked by Gridiron Games and there are no exceptions.
REGULAR SEASON ROUND:
MAKING YOUR PICK IN REGULAR SEASON:
Each week you pick a team that you think can win a game.
If you pick the winning team it is worth 1 point. A loss or tie
is worth 0.
Win,lose or tie the team you pick is eliminated for the rest
of the season, including the playoffs.
You can never pick that team again. They're
out... Forget about em!
You should try to avoid picking (eliminating) the teams
that you think will make the playoffs.
At kickoff of the first game on Sunday, that weeks picks become
locked by Gridiron Games.
You can no longer pick in a game that is Locked.
You will not be able to see anyone else's picks until
kickoff.
I'm locked out, I missed my pick.
If you realize you have missed a pick you have a couple of options. Pick a game later in the day or Monday night football.
If Gridiron games still will not accept your pick email Dah Commish immediately as he wields great powers and will be able to help.
You can make a pick in any remaining games of the week that have not started.
It is important to get an email to Dah Commish ASAP.
The time stamp on the email will confirm when your pick was made.
SLEEPERS:
If you miss a weeks pick, you are considered to be a
SLEEPER.
This is the worst mistake you can make, unless your goal
is to lose the game.
If you are found ASLEEP you will lose the team
that is ranked #5 in the ESPN NFL Football Power Index for that week.
If #5 is not
available to you due to prior elimination, than you would lose #4, if not
available then #3, then #2... #1
Three (3) SLEEPERS during the same season will
constitute a forfeit.
I can't stress this enough DON'T be a SLEEPER it will
cost you good teams,
it ruins the game, and is a huge pain for scoring.
It is easy to avoid by keeping your picks a couple of
weeks ahead.
On Gridiron Games you can change your pick anytime up until kickoff of
the first game on Sunday.
So pick early and often.
SLEEPING WITH SANDY EXEMPTION:
If this game becomes a hardship due to a natural
disaster, sickness,
or family disruption the league may deside to cover you.
The SLEEPER EXEMPTION will be put to a league wide vote
in which a majority rules.
Once the exemption has been activated it can be used
retroactively to cover the SLEEP period.
Weekly picks will be determined by the leagues most
popular pick for that week.
If that pick has already been eliminated from your pool
than the second most popular,
or third until a pick has been assigned.
Win or lose those picks will stand and become part of
your profile and score.
Upon returning to the fantasy world you will have the
option to continue or forfeit the game.
This exemption will not apply beyond the Regular season.
END OF REGULAR SEASON:
Regular season ends with the possibility of
18 points.
The highest point total of the regular season wins
The Uprights award. Worth $150 and 1
point.
Aside from scoring points the purpose of the elimination
round (regular season) is to build a competitive PLAYOFF POOL.
The teams that you have not eliminated during
the regular season now move on to the playoffs.
Our use of Gridiron Games website is now history with the
exception of the ESPN NFL ESPN NFL Power Rankings and ESPN as a reference tool.
Gridiron Games? Forget about em.
The scoring and rules are now in our control.

The game is no longer played by the Gridiron Games "NFL Maxout"
rules that we used during the regular season
The play of the game now moves to http://www.whatmewinner.com/scorecard.htm
Both the rules and the scoring values have changed.
Picking a team in the post season does not
eliminate them.
The PLAYOFF POOL consists of all the NFL teams that have
made it into the playoffs.
The teams in your PLAYOFF POOL are shown as (black)
Alive or (red) Dead.
Alive teams are those you did not
pick and eliminate in the regular season.
Dead teams are those you did pick and eliminate during
the regular season.
You can only pick and score with an Alive team.
If a team is Alive in your PLAYOFF POOL you can pick
them as they move through the postseason.
You get to pick an Alive team in every game in the playoffs.
If you pick the winner, you score accordingly and
you carry that team into the next bracket.
EMAIL YOUR PICKS:
Email your post season picks to rdeurer7@gmail.com ASAP and no later than kick-off of the first game of the weekend.
You can't change your picks once the scorecard has been posted.
Keeping track
A scorecard is kept online . The scorecard will show
everyone's picks and standings.

Wild-Card Round each game is worth 2
point.

points
Super Bowl Round the game is worth 5
points
The Rocks if you are able
to score all 37 points available in the postseason, sweeping
the brackets.
You may or may not win the game but all the other
players owe you a beer.
AWARDS:
Award scoring will be registered at the begining of the post season.
THE UPRIGHTS
The highest point total from the Regular Season Round is
awarded 1 point and $150 from the $pot.

held together and, one finger extending on each hand.
Oh Yea,
Congratulations, you've earned it.
LOMBARDI'S
PLAYBOOK

of the teams in your PLAYOFF POOL
and you have not been D-A-T A you are
awarded LOMBARDI'S PLAYBOOK which is worth 2 points.
Multiple players can win this award in a season.
FOOTE"S FEAT"
Undefeated thru week 13 of the regular season is the feat to beat.
You will earn naming rights.
THE ROCKS
If during the playoffs you score all '37' available points you
have won THE ROCKS.
Each member of the league will buy you a beer of your
choice.
Although unlikely multiple players can sweep the playoffs and win this award.
"Ain't the beer
cold!"
BURDENS:
There are no points here, only infamy.
PLEXACOED If you run out of picks in your pool before
the post season is over you are considered
Plexacoed.
You have shot yourself in the foot in a crowded
nightclub.
Your season is more than likely over. Hang in there,
your point total could still be a winner. Yea, right.
D-A-T-A If you finish
the regular season with a score of 6 or less you are
considered D-A-T-A or Dead-As-Tut's-Ass.
You are welcome to finish playing the game but
your chances of winning are slim.
The
Anchor You
really stunk it up this year and finished last. You keep
the rest of us grounded.
On a positive note
this one comes with
built-in hope.
Ghosted If you finish
the regular season below FuzzyWus1 you have been ghosted.
Our friend, John Corbin aka FuzzyWus1 died in 2017 but not before posting his picks for that year.
Year in and year out he is destined to make those same picks.
Below this line? You might want to reconsider your strategy.
CONFLICTS:
Any time you pick against a team that is alive in
your Playoff pool you have created a conflict.
The following graphics and scoring will be applied to the conflicted teams moving forward.
Picking against a team once they become DTTMF's (Disgruntled trash-talkin' mo-foe's)
They are now worth -1 of the regular scoring in that game.
If you pick against
a team for a second time they become USPD's (Underpaid Superstar Prima Donnas.)
They are now worth -2 of the regular scoring in that game.
If you pick against a team for a third time they become FUCS (Fundamentally Unemployable Coaching Staff.)
They are worth -3 of the regular scoring in that game.
BUT!
If you pick the DTTMF's or USPD's and they
win you will take the -1 or -2 point deduction for that round and that round only.
So...
By picking a DTTMF
or USPD you have shown respect and ended the conflict. They will be restored to 100%
in future scoring rounds.
SCORING VALUE WITH CONFLICTS:
Regular Divisional Round Scoring = 3 point per game
with a DTTMF's = 2 points
Regular Championship Round Scoring = 4 points per game
with a DTTMF's = 3 points
with a USPD's = 2 points
Regular Super Bowl Scoring = 5 points per game
with a DTTMF's = 4 points
with a USPD's = 3 points
with a FUCS = 2 points
THE PLAYOFF POOL GRAPHICS:
Below is an example of a PLAYOFF POOL from 2010-2011 season.
The teams in BLACK are teams that were not
eliminated during the regular season
and therefore are still alive in post season.
Teams in RED were
eliminated during the regular season and are not
available for your pick in the playoffs. They are dead
to you.
This box is a DTTMF. (Disgruntled
trash-talkin' mo-foe's)
This indicates that you have picked against this team in
a previous
round. By picking them now you have created
Disgruntled Trash-Talkin' Mo-Foe's.
They are worth -1 of the available points
This box is a USPD. It indicates that
you picked against this team twice before.
By picking them now you have created Underpaid Superstar Prima Donnas.
They are worth -2 of the available points
This box is a FUCS. It indicates that
you picked against them for a third time.
By picking them now you have created Fundamentally Unemployable Coaching Staff.
They are worth -3 of the available points
Showing the DTTMF or USPD respect by picking
them will bring them back to scoring potential of 100% in
future scores.
THE PLAYOFF SCORE CARD:
This is a score card from post season play. It shows
examples of many of the situations that can occur.
This particular score card is not a good card.
This card has been played through the Superbowl and has
only scored 11 of the possible 33 points that are available in
post season.
END OF DAYS:
The winner will be the person with the highest total
score. REGULAR SEASON, POST SEASON and SPECIAL AWARDS.
You will be awarded a wonderful jpg picture, of the coveted
"What, me winner?" trophy, plus the $-pot.
But wait there's more, you also get all the fame,
fortune and glory that go along with
such prizes.
Hoorah!
